| Het aanvallen van verschillende Sony-websites is één ding, maar Anonymous viel ook het PlayStation Network aan. Dit had als gevolg dat gamers wereldwijd problemen hadden met connectie maken en dat was knap vervelend. Eerder noemde Anonymous de gedupeerde gamers nog 'collateral damage', maar komt daar nu van terug. Anonymous heeft namelijk besloten om te stoppen met hun aanvallen op het PlayStation Netwerk. Anonymous realiseert dat het aanvallen van het PlayStation Netwerk geen goed idee is en dat het geen goede methode is om Sony hiervan zelf de dupe van te laten worden. Quote: "Anonymous is not attacking the PSN at this time. Sony’s official position is that the PSN is undergoing maintenance. We realize that targeting the PSN is not a good idea. We have therefore temporarily suspended our action, until a method is found that will not severely impact Sony customers." "Anonymous is on your side, standing up for your rights. We are not aiming to attack customers of Sony. This attack is aimed solely at Sony, and we will try our best to not affect the gamers, as this would defeat the purpose of our actions. If we did inconvenience users, please know that this was not our goal." Wat opvallend is, is dat deze mededeling van Anonymous vlak na het officiële bericht van Sony over de aanvallen komt. Sony heeft inmiddels toegegeven dat de onderhoudswerkzaamheden bedoeld waren als reactie op Anonymous. Hierdoor geeft Sony dus toe dat ze onder vuur hebben gelegen, iets wat iedereen dus allang wist, maar Sony niet wilde toegeven. Hier de officiële reactie van Sony. Quote: "We are currently investigating [the network instability], including the possibility of targeted behavior of an outside party. If this is indeed caused by such act, we want to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service.
